چکیده

Lake Van is the largest saline soda lake in world and one of world’s few endorheic lakes greater than 3,000 km 2 surface area. Despite its huge size, no fish species have so far been known to permanently occur this due extreme environmental conditions. Here, we report discovery a population that inhabits some unique microbialites lake, at maximum depth 13 m about 500 offshore. We tested whether an undescribed or new occurrence species. A molecular morphological examination showed newly discovered represents isolated Oxynoemacheilus ercisianus , only nemacheilid loach native freshwater tributaries basin. Our further hypotheses on prediction (a) stream fishes would more anterior placement fins were supported; but, (b) be slender bodied their conspecifics was not supported. The dwelling also shows very small sequence divergence (0.5% K2P distance) conspecific mtDNA-COI barcode region. notable difference with minute implies might lost link during desiccation transgressional phases Van, has adapted life microbialites.

Identification of bacterial communities in sediments of Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake in China.

Bacteria play a vital role in various biogeochemical processes in lacustrine sediment ecosystems. This study is among the first to investigate the spatial distribution patterns of bacterial community composition in the sediments of Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake of China. Sediment samples were collected from the main basins and mouths of major rivers that discharge into the Poyang Lak...

Sixty years of environmental change in the world's largest freshwater lake – Lake Baikal, Siberia

High-resolution data collected over the past 60 years by a single family of Siberian scientists on Lake Baikal reveal significant warming of surface waters and long-term changes in the basal food web of the world’s largest, most ancient lake. Attaining depths over 1.6 km, Lake Baikal is the deepest and most voluminous of the world’s great lakes. Increases in average water temperature (1.21 1C s...

Surface Water Quality Monitoring Site Optimization for Poyang Lake, the Largest Freshwater Lake in China

In this paper, we propose a coupled method to optimize the surface water quality monitoring sites for a huge freshwater lake based on field investigations, mathematical analysis, and numerical simulation tests. Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake in China, was selected as the research area. Based on the field investigated water quality data in the 5 years from 2008 to 2012, the water quali...
